The 26-year-old's consistent performances have not gone unnoticed and Championship rivals Derby and Forest are hoping to lure him away from Bloomfield Road.
Leeds are also believed to be tracking Barker with Whites boss Simon Grayson a big fan of the player having worked with him during his time in charge of Blackpool.
Barker has one year left on his current contract and Blackpool could find it hard to reject a substantial offer for the full-back.

QPR to lose Blackstock due to Forest offer

QPR HAVE refused to match the near £3,000-a-week pay-rise Dexter Blackstock will get if he signs for Nottingham Forest permanently - and have resigned themselves to losing their leading striker.
Blackstock is believed to be on something like £9k-a-week in west London - but once he let it be known he wanted to stay with Forest, Rs slapped a £2million price tag on the Oxford-born player.
Blackstock said: "I am enjoying it (at Forest) and everything about the club is great. The fan base, ground, training ground and the management staff. It is a massive club. If QPR accept a fee for me it's up to me to leave.'

Adebola issue is one for Bristol City boss Johnson to worry about

Dele Adebola will effectively put himself in the shop window at the City Ground tomorrow.
Out of contract at the end of the season and yet to decide where his future lies, Bristol City's veteran striker has been the subject of mounting speculation in recent weeks.
His hesitation in signing the new one-year deal offered him some months ago has not gone unnoticed in other parts of the country and tomorrow's opponents, Nottingham Forest, are one of several clubs to have been linked with the 33-year-old target man.
Indeed, one of Billy Davies' first acts as manager was to persuade his board of directors to table a six-figure bid for Adebola during the January transfer window. Forest's approach was rebuffed in no uncertain terms, but it served to bring the issue of Adebola's future into sharp focus.

SPURS RULE OUT PERMANENT GUNTER DEAL

The 19-year-old Wales international defender enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Reds at the end of the recent Championship season.

But Redknapp has ruled out selling Gunter and said: "He's a young player and loan experience is good, but we wouldn't sell him."
