Ned Kelly on United Game
Mon 13 Apr 2009
Nottingham Forest's assistant manager Ned Kelly had huge praise for his players, who had to play for 75 minutes plus a considerable amount of stoppage time with only ten men, after Kelvin Wilson picked up a red card when he seemed to lean his head in to Greg Halford.
Forest defended superbly and Paul Smith, back in the side for the injured Iain Turner, was instrumental in keeping the scoreline to a 0-0 draw.
Kelly told us: "It is a fantastic result, I am pleased for the boys, they thoroughly deserve the point.
"It is a difficult place to come to but we watched how they play against Barnsley and we worked at it this week, so we knew what we were coming into.
"We chopped and changed at the back and put in more height and power and it worked well for us."
Kelly had no complaints about the red card, saying: "From where we were standing it was a red, you just can't put your head there."
In spite of the point Forest went back into the relegation zone on goal difference but Kelly added: "We can't do anything about the other results, we just have to look after ourselves over the next three games.
"At the moment we just have to concentrate on the next game."
Forest are at home to Coventry City on Saturday where it is vital that they pick up three points.
